THE BROAD JUMP

Kind of like the Vertical Leap, the broad jump is done from a stand still.
The broad jump test is not as useful as some of the other metrics. The main reason why it is used is because the test is so old that there is a large portfolio of previous prospects' previous data. With this previous historical data, NFL scouts have a baseline to glean some information as to the overall athletic ability of that player.
The main quality that the broad jump tests is power.
